Contribute to EMODnet Biology via the eDNA Expeditions project

News article |

The project which runs from 2026 to 2028 and is designed to be local by impact and global by design and aims to have local teams at 25 marine sites worldwide to carry out repeated sampling campaigns, with results flowing back as decision-ready insights to directly support local marine management and conservation, as well as contribute to global ocean knowledge.

If you are connected with marine protected areas, conservation sites, or other ecologically significant marine sites and interested in participating, site recruitment is open until February 15th. There are no participation fees, and the project covers sampling kits, training, sample shipping, data processing, and the dashboards. Participating sites are responsible for the operational efforts for sampling activities.

For more details, please see https://ednaexpeditions.org/ or contact the team via edna@ioc-unesco.org

Relevant data will be republished in EMODnet Biology, thus allowing for a wider dissemination of the project’s outputs and data reuse, adding value to the effort and a continuous collaboration with OBIS.
