EMODnet Biology is organising a three-day, in-person Data Management training workshop for data providers from the Black Sea region. The training will take place from 28 to 30 October 2026 in Constanța, Romania.
The workshop is organised in parallel to the 3rd International Joint Conference, BLUE GROWTH: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE BLACK SEA (MARBLUE 2026), which will take place at “Ovidius” University of Constanța. The training itself will be hosted at the National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” Constanța (NIMRD), Mamaia Boulevard 300.
The course will focus on practical aspects of marine biological data management, with particular emphasis on preparing datasets for publication through EMODnet Biology. Participants will be guided through the process of structuring and standardising their data using Darwin Core, enabling integration into EurOBIS and EMODnet Biology.
This training focuses on datasets from the Black Sea region, which will be prioritised. Participants are expected to bring at least one dataset and will work on transforming their data during the workshop.
The workshop is primarily targeted at early-career researchers, data managers, and technical staff involved in handling marine biological data. Participation is limited, and pre-registration is required.
Pre-registration is open until the end of August 2026.
