Lineage
Statement | The Nature Conservancy created this map using PlanetScope (PS) Dove Classic SmallSat constellation, which delivers high-resolution imagery (4 m) and near-daily global coverage that facilitates the compilation of a cloud-free and optimal water column image composite of the Caribbean's nearshore environment. These data were used to develop a first-of-its-kind regional thirteen-class benthic habitat map to 30 m water depth using an object-based image analysis (OBIA) approach; maps were sectioned by Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs). For the Bahamas map, the original raster supplied by TNC was too large for SAERI to convert to a vector. As such, the raster should be interpreted using the following raster values:1 - Reef Crest, 2 - Fore Reef, 3 - Back Reef, 4 - Coral/Algae, 5 - Spur and Groove Reef, 6 - Hardbottom Sparse Algae, 7 - Hardbottom Dense Algae, 8 - Muddy Bottom, 9 - Dredged, 10 - Sand, 11 - Boulders and Rocks, 12 - Sparse Seagrass, 13 - Dense Seagrass |
