Data on marine habitats for the Irish Sea generated from the collation of historical sediment and biological data by Joint Nature Conservation Committee as part of the Irish Sea Pilot Project. The original classes assigned to the data were translated to the EUNIS habitat classification system as part of the MESH Atlantic project.

A map of marine landscapes were generated from the collation of historical sediment and biological data by Joint Nature Conservation Committee as part of the Irish Sea Pilot Project. A hard copy version of the habitat map was georeferenced and the habitat classes were traced and saved as polygon shapefiles using ArcMap version 10. All original classifications assigned to the habitats were translated to EUNIS using expert judgement and additional data and merged into one standardised polygon shapefile displaying EUNIS habitats in the Celtic Sea.
