TSM provides an indicator of water turbidity and suspended particulate material in the marine environment. The product is based on CoastColour L2W concentration data, where TSM (conc_tsm, mg/l) is retrieved using a combination of the OC4 algorithm for clear to moderately turbid waters and the CoastColour v1 neural network for more complex and turbid conditions The Level 2 Water (L2W) data are subsequently remapped onto a regular grid at 300 m spatial resolution and processed into monthly averaged Level 3 (L3) products over the North Sea. This product has been developed by EMODnet Physics. Data are available for download in netCDF format.
