Spawning grounds of whiting (Merlangius merlangus) in the North Sea (Gonzalez-Irusta and Wright 2017)
The whiting (Merlangius merlangus) spawning grounds dataset is also made available in the SpatialData.gov.scot Metadata Portal. The dataset has been generated using species distribution modeling to identify the likely distribution of whiting spawning in the North Sea and West of Scotland, taking account of certain environmental influences.

In June 2024, the EMODnet Seabed Habitat Lot slightly modified the dataset (Gonzalez-Irusta and Wright 2017) to make it compliant with the EMODnet standard format and modified the metadata to make it INSPIRE compliant.
