Information has been collected from companies websites and then by emails, companies have been asked to confirm the data. The data called Confirmed in case companies replied to the emails and confirmed the collected data. The data called Estimated in case the companies did not reply to the emails.|In the framework of the project BIOMASS ( https://biobs.jrc.ec.europa.eu/page/biomass-assessment-study-jrc) a joint workshop between JRC, FAO and the COST Actions Phycomorph and Eualgae was organized where the knowledge gaps and needs regarding algae biomass production were discussed. In this workshop, using as starting point the results of the questionnaire sent to the industry, the importance of gathering knowledge about the algae industry sector was discussed and highlighted. As a first step in this project we are collecting information on the location of the production facilities, group of produced organism (macro/microalgae) and production method ( Photobioreactors, Photobioreactors and Fermenters, Fermenters, Open ponds, Semi Open ponds, Photobioreactors and open ponds; land-based, off-shore and coastal aquaculture or harvesting).
