The MBES data were firstly classified into 2 main acoustic groups based on analysis of the backscatter imagery in ArcMap. The resulting two acoustic groups were classified into sediment classes using information from sediment samples and video footage of the seafloor. These sediment classes were translated into EUNIS level 4 habitat classes as part of the MESH Atlantic project.
