The coordinator of the project is Dr. Toste Tanhua at GEOMAR in Kiel, and the partner organization is the sailing association TransOcean in Germany. In this project, sailors get to lend a CTDO sonde, make measurements in the area of operation (Southwest Baltic Sea). Once done the sailors return the instrument to us, or to a marina that participate in the network. The instruments we are using are YSI EXO3 sondes with sensors for Temperature (degrees Celsius), Salinity (psu), Pressure (db), and Oxygen (micromole/kg). The oxygen sensor is calibrated regularly. The website of the project is https://www.trans-ocean.org/sailingforoxygen The data are also available in near real time on the Beluga portal. https://beluga.geomar.de/sail4oxygen This submission is a compilation of all the data collected in 2023. We have removed outliers and made an average (i.e. median) of the data every 0.5 meter.
