Offshore Foreland rMCZ 2014 Survey Report Map
The survey at the Offshore Foreland recommended Marine Conservation Zone (rMCZ) was carried out between 11th April and 8th May 2014 on the RV Cefas Endeavour cruise CEND 06/14. The survey team for the duration of the fieldwork included Cefas Marine Ecologists, Marine Surveyors and Marine Scientists, along with Marine Monitoring Specialists from Natural England. Acoustic and groundtruth datawas collected to establish the seabed habitat of the area.

Lineage
Statement | The survey at the Offshore Foreland recommended Marine Conservation Zone (rMCZ) was carried out between 11th April and 8th May 2014 on the RV Cefas Endeavour cruise CEND 06/14. MBES bathymetry and backscatter data were acquired using the Kongsberg EM2040 system operated at 300 kHz and deployed on the drop keel of RV Cefas Endeavour. Ground truth sampling was achieved using grabs and underwater video cameras. A visual assessment was made of the sediment type sampled by the grab and noted on the field records, assigning the sample to a Folk class and its equivalent EUNIS Level 3 and Broadscale Habitat (BSH) sediment class. Field notes were made during each camera deployment, noting station and sample metadata, real-time observations of substrate type and taxa, and an initial assessment of the range of Broadscale Habitats (BSHs) that had been seen. This polygon dataset was then formatted by JNCC to meet the Data Exchange Format v4.1 required for EMODnet uploads in August 2023. |
