O_BALGZAND - Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus, Haematopodidae) wintering on Balgzand (the Netherlands) is a bird tracking dataset published by Sovon, the University of Amsterdam and the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains animal tracking data collected during CHIRP (Cumulative Human Impact on biRd Populations) for the study O_BALGZAND using trackers developed by the University of Amsterdam Bird Tracking System (UvA-BiTS, http://www.uva-bits.nl). The study has been operational from 2010 to 2014. In total 22 individuals of Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus) have been tagged while overwintering in the Balgzand area in the Western Wadden Sea (the Netherlands), mainly to study how they utilize intertidal flats in relation to food availability in winter.

O_ASSEN - Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus, Haematopodidae) breeding in Assen (the Netherlands) is a bird tracking dataset published by the Vogelwerkgroep Assen, Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), Sovon, Radboud University, the University of Amsterdam and the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains animal tracking data collected for the study O_ASSEN using trackers developed by the University of Amsterdam Bird Tracking System (UvA-BiTS, http://www.uva-bits.nl). The study has been operational in 2018 and 2019. In total 6 individuals of Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus) have been tagged as a breeding bird in the city of Assen (the Netherlands), mainly to study space use of oystercatchers breeding in urban areas.

O_SCHIERMONNIKOOG - Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus, Haematopodidae) breeding on Schiermonnikoog (the Netherlands) is a bird tracking dataset published by Sovon, the University of Amsterdam and the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains animal tracking data collected during CHIRP (Cumulative Human Impact on biRd Populations) for the study O_SCHIERMONNIKOOG using trackers developed by the University of Amsterdam Bird Tracking System (UvA-BiTS, http://www.uva-bits.nl). The study has been operational from 2008 to 2014. In total 43 individuals of Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus) have been tagged as a breeding bird on the saltmarshes of the island Schiermonnikoog (the Netherlands), mainly to study their space use both during the breeding season and winter season.

SPOONBILL_VLAANDEREN - Eurasian spoonbills (Platalea leucorodia, Threskiornithidae) in Flanders (Belgium) is a bird tracking dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains animal tracking data collected by the LifeWatch GPS tracking network for large birds (http://lifewatch.be/en/gps-tracking-network-large-birds) for the project/study SPOONBILL_VLAANDEREN, using trackers developed by Ornitela (https://www.ornitela.com). The study has been operational since 2022. In total 5 individuals of Eurasian spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) have been tagged at several locations in Flanders (Belgium), mainly to study their flight behaviour in a hostile environment of wind turbines and high-voltage power lines.

MEDGULL_ANTWERPEN - Mediterranean gulls (Ichthyaetus melanocephalus, Laridae) breeding near Antwerp (Belgium) is a bird tracking dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains animal tracking data collected by the LifeWatch GPS tracking network for large birds (http://lifewatch.be/en/gps-tracking-network-large-birds) for the project/study MEDGULL_ANTWERPEN, using trackers developed by Ornitela (https://www.ornitela.com). The study has been operational since 2021. In total 4 individuals of Mediterranean gull (Ichthyaetus melanocephalus) have been tagged in their breeding area near the city of Antwerp (Belgium), mainly to study their habitat use and migration behaviour.

This is an acoustic telemetry dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains animal (fish) tracking data collected by the Permanent Belgian Acoustic Receiver Network <a href ="https://lifewatch.be/en/fish-acoustic-receiver-network">(https://lifewatch.be/en/fish-acoustic-receiver-network)</a> for the project/study 2013_albertkanaal, using VEMCO tags (V7, V9, V13) and receivers (VR2AR, VR2Tx, VR2W). In total 161 female individuals of European eel (<i>Anguilla anguilla</i>) and 134 (hatched) smolts of Atlantic salmon (<i>Salmo salar</i>) were captured, tagged and released between 2013 and 2017, to study the effect of shipping locks and hydropower plants on their downstream migration in the Albert canal.

It contains animal (fish) tracking data collected by the Permanent Belgian Acoustic Receiver Network (<a href="https://lifewatch.be/en/fish-acoustic-receiver-network">https://lifewatch.be/en/fish-acoustic-receiver-network</a>) for the project/study 2012_leopoldkanaal, using VEMCO tags (V7, V13) and receivers (VR2AR, VR2W). In total 104 female individuals of European eel (<i>Anguilla anguilla</i>) were captured, tagged and released in 2011 and 2012, to study their movement behaviour during the yellow eel stage and migration behaviour during the silver eel stage for 4 years in Meetjesland, a polder area in Flanders, Belgium.

In total 26 adult individuals of five local wild fish species (<i>Anguilla anguilla</i>, <i>Cyprinus carpio</i>, <i>Platichthys flesus</i>, <i>Rutilus rutilus</i>, <i>Silurus glanis</i>) were captured, tagged and released in 2015, to study the effect of a specific barrier on their upstream/downstream migration in the Dijle basin.

In total 16 adult individuals of four local wild fish species (<i>Petromyzon marinus</i>, <i>Rutilus rutilus</i>, <i>Silurus glanis</i>, <i>Squalius cephalus</i>) were captured, tagged and released in 2014, to study the effect of a specific barrier on their upstream/downstream migration in the Demer basin.

It contains animal (fish) tracking data collected by what later became the Permanent Belgian Acoustic Receiver Network <a href="https://lifewatch.be/en/fish-acoustic-receiver-network"> (https://lifewatch.be/en/fish-acoustic-receiver-network)</a> for the project/study 2011_rivierprik, using VEMCO tags (V7, V8) and receivers (VR2, VR2W). In total 39 adult individuals of river lamprey (<i>Lampetra fluviatilis</i>) were captured, tagged and released in 2011 and 2012, to study the effect of weirs and shipping locks on their upstream spawning migration in the tidal and/or non-tidal part of the Scheldt river and its tributaries.
