During the cruises of the Danish research steamer "Thor" in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean in the years 1908-1909 and 1910, a very large material of speciments belonging to the Scopelidae, and especially to the genus Myctophum, Rafinesque, was collected. The Mediterranean part of the material is dealt with in the present work, including not only the adult forms, but also postlarval and adolescent stages; in nearly all cases indeed, it was found possible to refer the postlarval stages with certainty to their respective species.

This dataset comprises the location of sampling stations, sampling information (methods) and some environmental data recorded during the Danish expeditions to the Mediterranean and adjacent seas 1908-1910. The data were digitized from the report of Schmidt (1912). This table was created and used as reference for the biogeographic data, which were published in three multi-part volumes. Three of these volumes with biogeographic data have been digitized already and are available through this IPT installation (see links below). For other volumes, only metadata have been created and are available through this IPT.

ARMS-MBON is a network of more than 25 partners who deploy Autonomous Reef Monitoring Structures (ARMS) settlement units in the vicinity of marine stations and Long-term Ecological Research sites in European coastal waters and Ant/arctica. After a few months the units are brought up, and visual, photographic, and genetic assessments are made of the lifeforms that settled on them. The collected data are published (see the related datasets and GitHub links listed in this record) and the omics data analysed.-nbsp;

In this record we include the outputs of our analysis of the 18S data from 2018-2020. The analysis used the PEMA bioinformatics software, and the resulting taxonomics inventory has been submitted as DwCA to (Eur)OBIS. In addition, all the PEMA inputs and outputs can be found on the ARMS-MBON GitHub site (see links in this record), and the subset of the sampling data to which these 18S results are linked can also be found on the ARMS-MBON GitHub site.
