The weekend of 8 and 9 April, EMODnet joined the #OceanChallenge4Africa online hackathon, organized by Mercator Ocean International, IOC Africa and Garage48; and supported by Segal Family Foundation and in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme GEMS Ocean, GEO Blue Planet and the African Group on Earth Observations (AfriGEO).
The participating teams used EU’s Copernicus Marine Service, EMODnet and EUMETSAT data in innovative applications aimed at tackling challenges and threats to Africa’s marine environments, biodiversity and communities with a goal of a healthy, resilient, productive and safe ocean.
