Phytoplankton of the northern part of the Black Sea 1992-1993 collected during 6 scientific cruises on the ships of Ukrainian Scientific Center of Ecology of the Sea (UkrSCES) on unified stations grid.

Species composition, abundance and biomasss of zooplankton at selected layers from the seabed to the surface. Approximately 100 species included in the database.

The national monitoring program was initiated by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and is now financed by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management. The monitoring is performed by the Swedish Museum of Natural History. Data is stored in the database SHARK, hosted and maintained by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute. Monitoring of seals is performed by counting seals from land, ship or airplane. European Seabirds At Sea (ESAS) assembles offshore monitoring data on seabirds and marine mammals. This international database mostly includes data from the North Sea, yet large parts of the northeastern Atlantic Ocean are covered as well. It finds its origin in the 'Seabirds at Sea' project, which was initiated in 1979 following the discovery of major oil potential in the North Sea and an urgent need to gain more knowledge on the occurrence and distribution of seabirds in their offshore habitat. This led to the execution of large-scale ship-based surveys across the North Sea using a standardized data collection method and a first European-wide data assembly in 1991.

The dataset contains information collected within the EMBLAS-Plus Project on the occurrence of the cetaceans in the north-western part of the Black Sea including photo identification surveys and linear-transect surveys of density and abundance during summer-autumn 2019

The Years of the North Atlantic Humpback whale (YoNAH) is the broadest-ranging, most intensive study ever undertaken of a marine mammal species. Standardized sampling protocols were used in all areas to minimizes biases due to sampling. The YoNAH project collected photographs of individually distinctive natural markings, genetic samples and behaviour data on humpback whales in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The dataset includes age- and length-based catch per unit effort data for commercial fish species in ICES roundfish areas.

A joint international investigation in the Skagerrak area, the Skagerrak Experiment (SKAGEX) was carried out from spring 1990 to spring 1991. Four field phases (SKAGEX I-IV) were carried out, and 17 research ships from 7 countries participated.
