We provide datasets that include parameters regarding phytoplankton community, primary production and chl a measurements. Chlorophyll a concentrations analysis started from 1972 till 2017 and included coastal and open waters stations. Phytoplankton community analysis consist of datasets started from 1952-2017 while primary production measurements were obtained from 1962.

Dat set is long-term, whic include include mesozooplankton abundance and composition (at group level) from open sea station Stončica located in the middle Adriatic (43°02′38″N 16°17′7″E). Stončica is considered as a referent site for the oligotrophic open waters in the middle Adriatic area and has been under regular monitoring from as early as the 1950s up to now, resulting in several multidecadal data sets of bacterial, phyto- and mesozooplankton abundances and/or their respective production and biomass measured at near-monthly basis. Maximum depth of the station is 107 m, with detrital and slightly muddy bottom.

Monthly mesoozooplankton samplings started in 1950s, performed by vertical tows of Hensen net (73 cm mouth diameter, 330 μm mesh size) from 35–0 m. Samples were fixed in 2 % formaldehyde solution buffered with borax. No flowmeter was used. From 1950s-1995 mesozooplankton was sampled on approximately monthly basis and data are available from January 1972 to November 1995 (with gaps in 1975) and include the abundances expressed as no.ind.m-3 at group level of the zooplankton groups such as Copepoda, Cladocera, Appendicularia, Chaetognatha, Tunicata, Ostracoda, Polychaeta, Decapoda larvae, various meroplankton larvae, Pisces ova, Pisces larvae and Hydromedusae/Siphonophora. From 1995 the sampling program with Hensen net was interrupted and investigations continued with Nansen net, 125 μm mesh size.

Monthly mesoozooplankton samplings started in 1959, performed by vertical tows of Hensen net (73 cm mouth diameter, 330 μm mesh size) from 100–0 m at towing speed of 0.3 m s-1. Samples were fixed in 2 % formaldehyde solution buffered with borax. No flowmeter was used. From 1959-2017 mesozooplankton was sampled on approximately monthly basis and data are available from March 1959 to December 2017 (with gaps) and include the abundances expressed as no.ind.m-3 at group level of the zooplankton groups such as Copepoda, Cladocera, Appendicularia, Chaetognatha, Tunicata, Ostracoda, Polychaeta, Decapoda larvae, various meroplankton larvae, Pisces ova, Pisces larvae and Hydromedusae/Siphonophora. From 2004 - 2012 the sampling program was interrupted. The samples from 2012 - 2016 are currently being processed and not yet part of this series.

Provided dataset includes species list of benthic invertebrates and phytobenthos, collected by divers using direct sampling method of randomly chosen samples. Samples were collected for environmental impact assessments under scopes of different projects from 2000 till 2010

Provided dataset includes species list of benthic invertebrates and phytobenthos, collected by divers using direct sampling method of randomly chosen samples. Samples were collected under scope of monitoring program that covered eastern side of middle and south Adriatic.

Data were collected during annual acoustic surveys carried out in the eastern part of the Adriatic Sea. Various data (i.e. oceanography, plankton, pelagic fish, acoustic - 38kHz) are collected, but up to now not organized in unique dataset. At the present, number of different excel files exist. Data might be available for common scientific studies/publications, upon agreement.
-
Data were collected during annual bottom trawl surveys carried out in the eastern part of the Adriatic Sea. Data about qualitative and quantitative composition of demersal species, abundance and biomass are collected. Data were uploaded on official DCF database.
-
Data were collected during annual monitoring of commercial bottom trawl fishery carried out in the Croatian territorial waters of the Adriatic Sea. Data about qualitative and quantitative composition of demersal species, abundance and biomass are collected. Data were uploaded on official DCF database.
