Spawning areas of whiting (Merlangius merlangus) in the Channel Sea - Modeled occurrence probability
January spawning ground occurrence probability was modeled as part of INTERREG 3a CHARM II project (2006-2008). The gridded dataset (horizontal resolution 0.009 x 0.009 decimal degrees, i.e. approximately 800m) was created by (Carpentier et al, 2009) by fitting a Generalised Linear Model (GLM) using IBTS survey data and a series of environmental raster datasets. More information is available in the metadata of the original data source (Carpentier et al, 2009) and the CHARM II final report - see lineage for a link to these items.

The whiting (Merlangius merlangus) spawning grounds dataset is also made available in the SpatialData.gov.scot Metadata Portal. The dataset has been generated using species distribution modeling to identify the likely distribution of whiting spawning in the North Sea and West of Scotland, taking account of certain environmental influences.

Seasonal and ontogenetic variation of whiting diet in the Eastern English Channel-Southern North Sea
This dataset gathers data used to determine seasonal and ontogenic variation of whiting (Merlangius merlangus) diet in the Eastern English Channel and south of the North Sea : (1) Individual C and N isotopic ratios, length and mass, for all individuals considered (2) Individual stomach content data. In the stomach content database, each individual is represented by several lines, each line representing one prey type Important Note: This submission has been initially submitted to SEA scieNtific Open data Edition (SEANOE) publication service and received the recorded DOI. The metadata elements have been further processed (refined) in EMODnet Ingestion Service in order to conform with the Data Submission Service specifications.
