EMODnet Chemistry experts present at ONE BLUE project webinar

News article |

On 6 June, EMODnet Chemistry introduced the event "ONE-BLUE: synergies towards the Ocean and Marine Environment Protection" and showcased EMODnet's long-standing experience in managing data on marine pollutants.

Research into the effects of new pollutants and climate change on marine biodiversity and biota is the main objective of the ONE-BLUE project, which is funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe programme. It is planned to collect more than 800 samples in 9 campaigns in the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Arctic oceans.
Project partners themselves, environmental authorities and scientists from other European initiatives attended the event, which was held in conjunction with the European Green Week 2024. This is organised by the European Commission to raise awareness and discuss European environmental policy. “Towards a Water Resilient Europe” is the theme of this year's week, which aims to stimulate a debate on water.
In the first two sessions of the webinar, the ONE-BLUE research plan was presented. In the last two sessions, the partnership exchanged ideas with other projects and organisations working to protect marine waters.

“I am delighted to have been invited to join the ONE-BLUE partners who share the same goal as EMODnet Chemistry of supporting sound, data-driven understanding of the impacts of marine pollution.”
