At EMD 2025, EMODnet was present with a dedicated exhibition booth, where the Secretariat—together with EC DG MARE and thematic Coordinators—engaged with a wide range of stakeholders. Visitors explored EMODnet’s latest developments and learned more about its role in delivering open, harmonised marine data services across Europe.
In parallel, EMODnet experts took part in the regional workshop “Blue Economy for the All Atlantic” on coastal resilience, organised under the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership. Co-hosted by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research & Innovation (DG RTD) and the OKEANO Coordination and Support Action (CSA), the workshop explored current challenges and opportunities for enhancing coastal resilience throughout the Atlantic basin.
Further contributions came during a dedicated session on Biological Ocean Observation, co-organised with EuroGOOS. Speakers included EC DG MARE’s Remy Denos, EMODnet Biology Coordinator Joana Beja (VLIZ), and ICES’ data lead Neil Holdsworth. The session emphasised the importance of robust data management and services in ensuring that ocean observations are transformed into FAIR data—Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable—enabling their effective use in policy implementation and digital tools.
EMODnet’s involvement was also highlighted at the European Horizon Europe project stand. Here, its role in supporting EU research and innovation projects was showcased, particularly its advisory services and practical workflows that assist in preparing and ingesting project data and metadata into EMODnet. These efforts help maximise data visibility and impact, feeding into EMODnet’s digital services and further supporting in situ data provision to the European Digital Twin Ocean.
