EMODnet Human Activities attended the 2nd workshop by the Community of Practice (CoP) on data sharing, information and communication technology serving MSP

On the 1st of September, the Community of Practice (CoP) on Data sharing, information and communication technology serving Marine Spatial Plans organised its second Workshop meeting on "Coherence of the MSP data and information". EMODnet Human Activities attended the workshop online.

In February 2022, the CoP mentioned above had launched a questionnaire identifying the user's involvement in the CoP and allowing them to provide recommendations on the scope of the learning strand on Data sharing, information and communication technology. EMODnet Human Activities contributed to the survey. The results of the survey were presented at the workshop, and indicated that 63% of the survey users use data from EMODnet. The results identified that those users worked within a national authority or EU administration and all work at European and/or national level. 

Guest presentations were given by among others the Danish Maritime Authority and the Italian National Research Council, who both indicated to use EMODnet in their work. The Danish Maritime Authority highlighted the cooperation with EMODnet Human Activities and acknowledged the data model for MSP developed in the framework of the Technical Expert Group on Data for MSP . They mention EMODnet (and Basemap – Helcom) as the international initiatives where they adapt their MSP plan. The Italian National Research Council presented their MSP data model and explained that they are developing a tool to transform their national plan into the EMODnet Human Activities data model for MSP.
