EMODnet Partners with the UN Ocean Decade Coordination Office for Ocean Data Sharing at UNOC3

EMODnet plays a vital role in contributing in situ observation data to global efforts e.g., Ocean Data Information System (ODIS) and Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS), also providing marine knowledge to support Challenge 8 on a Digital Representation of the Ocean and the Ocean Data 2030 strategy and implementation plan. EMODnet contributes to a number of other UN Ocean Decade activities and projects, including COAST Predict and – through EMODnet’s key role in the aimed at enhancing our understanding and stewardship of the oceans. In addition, the EDITO project has also been acknowledged as a UN Ocean Decade Project. 

Developed by the EU and its partners, EDITO plays a crucial role in the digitalisation of ocean data. This initiative is part of the Digital Twins of the Ocean (DITTO) program, which ais to support ocean protection, governance and the sustainable Blue Economy using digital twins. Together, these efforts mark significant strides towards a sustainable and resilient ocean future.
