During the discussion, EMODnet's pivotal role in the global ocean digital ecosystem as an EU regional data service, providing open and FAIR in situ data, metadata, and data products was emphasised. These resources are fully interoperable with other regional and global data services, supporting forecast and prediction systems worldwide.

A poster on ‘In Situ Ocean Data in Support of Ocean Prediction: data management and workflows in Europe’ was prepared by EMODnet Physics in collaboration with the EMODnet Secretariat and presented on November 18. The poster highlights the collaboration on in situ data management between EMODnet and Copernicus Marine Service INSTAC to gather in situ datasets which are required by the ocean prediction community to improve the nowcast and forecast.
