EMODnet and the European Atlas of the Seas were also exhibited at the "" Ocean Literacy in Action " " event hosted by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) and the " EU4Ocean Coalition " with the support of IOC/UNESCO., highlighting the power of the EMODnet EC marine data service and the Atlas EC web mapping communication tool for providing open and free access to marine data, information and knowledge for professional users and society. EMODnet was presented at the EU Mission: Restore Our Ocean and Waters Forum exhibition, amongst other key EU initiatives, with many inputs also from European projects. As a signatory to the Mission Charter, EMODnet was also invited to the First European Parliament on the EU Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters (Mission Ocean), where Kate Larkin, Head of EMODnet Secretariat gave an intervention on EMODnet’s ongoing partnerships with the European Research and Innovation Horizon Europe and Mission Ocean projects, including a recent webinar which was producing guidelines to European projects on data submission to EMODnet.
During the foresight workshop 'Where Next for Europe's Seas' event, EMODnet Secretariat member, and European Atlas of the Seas lead for communications Nathalie Van Isacker, co-moderated the Thematic Session III on Society. Other EMODnet Secretariat members attended, and the team contributed a community poster, showcasing the Atlas and highlighting EMODnet in relevant discussions. The event served as a platform for engaging discussions on the future of Europe's marine environments, underscoring the imperative of adopting integrated and collaborative approaches to ocean governance and management.
At the BlueInvest Day, EMODnet gained insights in the innovation and investment landscape of the Blue Economy which also include the emerging area of ocean observation technologies, and the event served as a platform to discuss with SMEs and industry networks about EMODnet for Business events, and opportunities for private-public data sharing, among others.
During the Ocean Literacy in Action Day, EMODnet was showcased in the Ocean Literacy Islands exhibition. Specifically, EMODnet shared the Research Corner with EuroGOOS, JPI Oceans, European Marine Board, VLIZ and the Blue World Institute, where infographics and promotional material for EMODnet and the European Atlas of the Seas could be found.
