In July 2022, EMODnet and Euro-ARGO ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium for Observing the Ocean European Research Infrastructure Consortium for Observing the Ocean ) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the ongoing dialogues and relationship between EMODnet and the Euro‐Argo ERIC. EMODnet co-signatories to the MoU included the Coordinators of EMODnet Physics, EMODnet Chemistry and the EMODnet Secretariat.

The Euro‐Argo ERIC organises and federates 13 European countries aiming at maintaining 25% of the global Argo network. The MoU will further strengthen EMODnet and Euro-ARGO’s collaboration on in situ ocean observations in Europe, a fundamental pillar of the EMODnet value‐added chain that goes from observation and data to information and users. Specific areas of collaboration include maximising data sharing, interoperability and the use of existing and new types of Argo data with corresponding metadata by EMODnet; providing EMODnet feedback on Euro‐Argo products; and assessing future needs in terms of observations to further strengthen the EMODnet data and data product offer. EMODnet will actively participate in the 7th  Argo Science Workshop on 11-13 October 2022 in Brussels, Belgium.
