Fishing intensity data set extended to additional sea regions

The data set on fishing intensity made available by EMODnet Human Activities now also includes the Azores, the Bay of Biscay and the Iberian Coast, the Baltic Sea, the Barents Sea, the Celtic Sea, the Faroes, Icelandic Waters, the Norwegian Sea and the Oceanic Northeast Atlantic.

The data is provided by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and includes information on the spatial distribution of average annual fishing effort (mW fishing hours) by ecoregion and gear type (Beam trawls, Bottom otter trawls, Bottom seines, Dredges, Pelagic trawls and seines, Static gears, where available).
