As we advance well into the second EMODnet development phase (2013-2016), consortia have grown and EMODnet now directly involves more than 110 organisations. Many more people are doing the actual work behind the scenes. To reconnect all partners involved in the different initiatives and discuss how we can move forward together in the coming years, EMODnet thematic portals are gathering at the same time and location (InnovOcean site Oostende, 21-22 October 2015) for their (annual) project meetings and a series of joint activities to consolidate the progress made today and prepare for the next EMODnet development phase. These meetings complement the EMODnet Open Conference with stakeholder interventions, EMODnet showcases, user testimonies and plenary discussions (De Grote Post Oostende, 20 October 2015) organised by DG MARE together with the Secretariat and the Flanders Marine Institute (local host).  EMODnet partners are warmly invited to participate actively in the open conference as well as the joint activities and thematic partner meetings.
