[VIDEO] EMODnet: Providing Open Data, supporting Aquaculture

News article |

How do we feed a growing population, reduce pressures on land resources and meet the targets of the European Green Deal to be climate neutral by 2050? Sustainable aquaculture is part of the solution.

The European Commission has adopted new strategic guidelines to make EU aquaculture more sustainable and competitive. Farming fish, shellfish, algae and other marine organisms at sea require access to reliable data about the marine environment to help select sites, monitor changing conditions and carry-out environmental impact assessments.

But where can the aquaculture industry find the data they need?

EMODnet, the European Marine Observation and Data Network, provides free and open access to reliable, harmonized, quality controlled data across a range of disciplines - bathymetry, geology, biodiversity, seabed habitats, physics, human activities, chemistry.

This short film presents how EMODnet is providing open data and information to support the aquaculture sector. If you are an aquaculture industry, watch this film and see how you can find the data you need at EMODnet.
