On 23 November 2022, colleagues from the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) and the National Marine Data and Information Service of China (NMDIS) gathered together with representatives from the European Commission and the Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) at the final meeting of the EU-China collaborative ocean data pilot projects EMOD-PACE (i.e. the ‘EMODnet Partnership for China and Europe’) and CEMDnet (China-EU Marine Data Network Partnership). While the...
EMODnet Chemistry data on contaminants underpins a new approach to improve quality control procedures for sediment pollution data. This in turn supports harmonised environmental assessment. The study was described in detail in the scientific paper entitled "Trace metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the Eastern Mediterranean sediments: Concentration ranges as a tool for quality control of large data collections" that is freely available in the current issue of the Marine Pollution...
From 26 to 28 October 2022, EMODnet Chemistry was in Constanța (Romania) at the hybrid conference MARBLUE 2022 - Blue Growth: Challenges and Opportunities for the Black Sea.
The 17th Steering Committee (SC) met on 7 and 8 November 2022, with a key focus on the upcoming centralization of all EMODnet services into one unified EMODnet data service.
EMODnet Chemistry has improved the questionnaire to obtain information on sampling/analytical methods and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures for contaminants in seawater, sediment and biota. The updated questionnaire was recently sent to all institutes providing data to EMODnet Chemistry, in order to improve and update.
